There are three general methods to adulterate urine samples for substance abuse testing:
Passive exposure to marijuana smoke will yield results below a 50 ng/ml cut-off for cannabinoids and below 15 ng/ml for THC-COOH.
Laboratory drug and alcohol test results are often used in legal proceedings. The manner in which you collect and handle the specimens is very important. Specimens must be handled and controlled by collection site personnel throughout the process.
Ammon Analytical Laboratory provides specimen collection and labeling guidelines. It is the responsibility of individual collection agencies to adopt their own policies and procedures according to their needs in compliance with individual state and federal regulations.
Ammon will store all clinical urine specimens for 4 weeks. We will store positive urine specimens for 1 to 6 months or as long as the client requests.
Ammon screens by immunoassay. This test uses antibodies specific to the substance being tested for to detect the presence of the drug or its metabolite. With linear calibration, we can provide a semi quantitative result of a positive test screen.
Confirmations are available by liquid chromatography—mass spectrometry—mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS).
The drug detection times in oral fluids are similar to those in blood. Oral fluid tests can detect amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, opiates, cocaine, benzoylecgonine, methadone, and PCP for up to 48 hours following subjects' use. You can still detect marijuana in oral fluid for up to 24 hours. Urine will detect substances significantly longer.
